Red: Yea I heard 'bout your father, he's a gifted seer. Valentina: If I have any visions I will let you know. Red: So wat you two think 'bout these islands? Valentina: I think he just needs a father figure.Bangerz probably does too. Hero: Yes, he almost always has been drug into trouble by Bangerz all the time. Valentina: It's nice of Yangus to be a father figure to Mash ( Valentina comments to the the Hero). (Red smiles after everyone looks away as Yangus patiently spends time with a young eager to learn Mash). Yangus: Um.I know it's aint your birthday, but Red and I thought ya needed a weapon that suits ya better. (Red gives Yangus a small red mallet hammer) Yangus: I believe this little ones right! (Almost an hour later) Mash: I see the other four islands ahead! Red: 'Bout time, I was getting a bit anxious. Valentina: I believe the Goddess has revealed the first island. Yangus: I don't know Guv, but all this fancy writing on the map makes it seem like whatever it is has to be huge. As they travel for a few days by sea, they are able to find the mysterious islands. Bangerz was really upset, Lady Rosalind wasn't too happy about having them separated, but Angelo convinced her that at some point they both need to be able to act independently of one another. So Mash was chosen more because in the end Red and Yangus definitely could see this one needed a bit of guidance. Yangus: Well he ain't a brat like the other one is. Red: Me thinks so from how ya used to be as a lad. Red eyes both of the boys and out of them both she looks more favorably on Mash. Bangerz and Mash both want to ride on Red's ship, but she really isn't very fond of children. On the way to Alexandria, they recruit Jessica and Angelo but not without other guests. Yangus then tells Red about Valentina's gift as a healer so she is enlisted. Red and Yangus go to Trodain and enlist the Hero's help. So the story is set after Lord Rhapthorne is defeated and a couple months pass. ( More characters may be included in the final revised edition.) Jessica and Angelo steer the other ship with the choice of 3 other companions, Bangerz, Lady Rosalind, Kalderasha, or Morrie. This team is decided for the player as this is close to the end of the game and of course is an optional quest. There are 5 islands so everyone splits up into teams to search the islands for the landmark on the treasure map. Red decides to take her ship for this hunt as it requires searching a cluster of uncharted islands that have mysteriously never been discovered. This will be designated as post game content, after Red and Yangus relationship begins to warm up, Red and Yangus stumble on a 7th Map. UPDATE: Dragon Quest VIII 3DS is coming west! Rejoice!
